Terms and conditions for e-publications and downloadable pdf’s

1. General

Unicontent offers a service giving users access to read, download and make notes for the e-publications they have purchased. These general terms and conditions constitute an agreement between you and Unicontent concerning the use of the service. You may only obtain access to the service if you agree to comply with these general terms and conditions. By purchasing an e-publication or a downloadable pdf you agree to be bound by these general terms and conditions.

2. Registration of user account

In order to obtain access to the content in the service, you must register and create a user account. You are responsible for providing the correct information about yourself and for ensuring that no other person obtains access to your login information or password. You will only be able to create a user account if you have a valid email address. You can change the email address you have provided under “My account” on Unicontent’s website.

3. Technical requirements for using the service

Due to the streaming solution, the service requires an Internet connection. Unicontent is not responsible for any faults and/or delays arising due to you not having the necessary equipment, software and/or internet capacity.

4. Price and payment

Prices are available on Unicontent’s website. All prices stated on the website includes applicable VAT. In addition to payment pursuant to this section, data traffic charges may be payable to your operator, which are a matter between you and your operator beyond the scope of these general terms and conditions. The user must make the payment immediately upon ordering. 

Unicontent cooperates with Paytrail to provide different methods of payment for their customers. You can choose mobile payment, card payment, bank payment, invoice or installment as your payment method.

Paytrail Oyj (2122839-7) acts as an implementer of the payment handling service and as a Payment Service Provider. Paytrail Oyj will be shown as the recipient in the invoice and Paytrail Oyj will forward the payment to the merchant. Paytrail Oyj is an authorized Payment Institution. 5. Changes to terms and conditions for the service

Unicontent reserves the right to change terms and conditions for the service, including these general terms and conditions if this is necessary because of significant changes in the circumstances, changes in the service’s production or acquisition costs or other expenses, or because of other acceptable reasons. Changes to terms and conditions will be notified by email and may also be published on Unicontent’s website

6. Term of the agreement and termination

If you are in breach of these general terms and conditions, Unicontent is entitled to suspend your access to the service with immediate effect. You may also be liable in damages if you are in breach of these general terms and conditions. Unicontent is also entitled to cancel your access to the service with a one month period’s notice in the event of the discontinuation or modification of the service.

7. Right of cancellation of purchase and complaints

You have the right to withdraw your order within 14 days of receiving the product or service you have ordered and receive a full refund. To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform Unicontent of your decision. For contact details please see section 12 below. Include the order number, the reason for the cancellation, your contact information and the date of the order.

However, if you attempt to download, stream, or consume the content of the service in any way during the withdrawal period you acknowledge and accept that: (i) you consent to such content being supplied during the withdrawal period; and (ii) as a result of the supply beginning, your right to withdraw will cease, which means that you will not be able to withdraw from your purchase even if the withdrawal period has not expired.

If the service is defective or incorrect and you want to present a claim for that reason, you have to notify Unicontent and describe the defect.

8. Unicontent’s obligations and rights

Unicontent provides the service as is at a given point in time. The user is aware and understands that the content in the service and the functions in the service are subject to change at any time without prior warning.

Unicontent may communicate with you via e-mail, telephone or physical mail regarding topics that are strictly to do with Unicontent’s service. For example, service interruptions. Unicontent may also contact you via e-mail regarding offers, publications, products, functions, surveys or events that are tied to Unicontent’s service if you have not refused such communication.

The service is available 24 hours a day. However, Unicontent provides no guarantee that the service will be free from defects or stoppages at all times. Unicontent is not responsible for your inability to access the service due to events beyond Unicontent’s control (such as overload, network and/or other communication faults, your mishandling as a user, or your defective equipment). In the event of a defect or stoppage in relation to the service, Unicontent is entitled to rectify the defect or stoppage without it being considered to be a breach of contract. Unicontent is also entitled to reasonably suspend the service for e.g. updates and maintenance.

9. Use of the service and the user’s responsibilities

All of the content Unicontent provides via the service is owned by Unicontent or Unicontent’s content providers and is protected by copyright. By creating a user account and making a purchase, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to the content in the service to be used in accordance with these general terms and conditions. These general terms and conditions do not entail that the right of ownership or other intellectual property rights relating to the content in the service are assigned or transferred to you or any other party. As a user, you are entitled to listen to audio publications (future feature), read and make notes to e-publications and access the other content in the service in accordance with these general terms and conditions. The service is for personal use only and may not be used for any commercial or public purpose.

Your account is personal to you and may not be shared with third parties. You undertake not to whether in whole or in part, copy e-publications or any other of Unicontent’s content in the service and not to violate in any other manner the technical restrictions intended to prevent users from copying any content in the service or disseminating e-publications, or any other of Unicontent’s content in the service by, for example, selling, copying, lending or renting out, not even for personal use. Furthermore, you are not entitled to use the service in any manner in breach of these general terms and conditions or for any unlawful purpose. Furthermore, you may not encourage any other person to use the service in any manner in breach of legislation or these general terms and conditions. You are responsible for ensuring that the email address you provided is correct and up-to-date, since most communications relating to your order and your purchases will take place by email.

If you suspect any unauthorized use of your account, you must immediately inform Unicontent and change your password. You are personally responsible and liable for all loss caused as a result of you having given another person access to the service via your user account.

10. File protection

All copying and improper dissemination of e-publications and downloadable pdf’s is prohibited. You are personally responsible for ensuring that e-publications are not disseminated to third parties in accordance with the provisions of section 9 above.

11. Applicable legislation

These general terms and conditions will be construed in accordance with Finnish law.

In the event a dispute arises between Unicontent and you, the parties shall, in the first instance, seek to resolve the dispute by means of a mutual agreement. If Unicontent and you are unable to reach an agreement, you have the right to bring the case to a court of law where you reside. The European Commission provides for an online dispute resolution platform, which you can access here: http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/. There might also be alternative dispute resolution in your country.

Terms and conditions for printed publications and other products

1. General

Unicontent delivers printed publications and other products to Finland, EU, Norway, UK, USA and Canada. We only accept orders placed online. However, you can always contact our customer service if you have any questions about your order or need help placing your order.

All notifications regarding your order will be sent via e-mail, so you will be expected to follow your e-mail once you have placed your order through us.

Unicontent is not responsible for any delays, technical errors, changes in publication timing, or errors in article information. We also reserve the right to cancel a sale if the product is out of stock.

2. Registration of user account

In order to make an order from Unicontent’s webshop, you must register and create a user account. You are responsible for providing the correct information about yourself and for ensuring that no other person obtains access to your login information or password. You will only be able to create a user account if you have a valid e-mail address. You can change the e-mail address you have provided under “My account” on Unicontent’s website.

3. Delivery time

Printed products will generally be shipped the next business day after the order is placed. If the product you ordered is out of stock or there is a significant delay in delivery, we will contact you via e-mail.

4. Delivery methods

Printed books are delivered from Unicontent’s warehouse as a postal package. We charge a fixed delivery charge of € 9.90 per order to Finland, € 27.50 to Åland and EU and € 40 to Norway, UK, USA and Canada.

6. Delays

We do our best to deliver products to our customers as quickly as possible, but unfortunately sometimes there are delays in deliveries. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that your order will arrive on a certain day. We reserve the right to cancel an order if there are any problems with the availability of the product or the payment for  the order.

7. Right of cancellation of purchase and complaints

You have the right to withdraw your order within 14 days of receiving the product or service you have ordered and receive a full refund. Include the order number, the reason for the cancellation, your contact information and the date of the order.

If the product or service is defective or incorrect and you want to present a claim for that reason, you have to notify Unicontent and describe the defect, within a reasonable period from when you received the product or discovered the defect.

8. Product return and exchange

When you return unused products with labels and packaging within 30 days of the cancellation notice, we will refund the full amount you paid. If the quality of the product has suffered as a result of being processed more than is necessary to examine the condition and functionality of the product, we may deduct the amount corresponding to the depreciation from the refund.

You can return the products in the same package in which the shipment arrived for you. If you already disposed the package, you can send the return well in another package – Important is that you pack the return well.

You can exchange the product for another by returning the product to us according to our return instructions and after that you can place a new order on Unicontent’s website.

When, for one reason or another, you return your order, you will receive a refund for the products purchased throug Paytrail. Refunds will be made to the account you used  to make the purchase.

9. Applicable legislation
